Why Minnesota?

Why Minnesota?

In previous articles, I’ve made the case that Minnesota is the epicenter of woke_mind_virus, the global moral movements it has spawned and the global moral panics it produces.

I’ve never really explained why I think that might be. A combination of its international nature, environment, geography, transportation, business climate, culture and politics might play roles.

Geographic Location

The Twin Cities is the closest major metro area to the center of North America.  We are as far from an ocean as you can be on this planet but have water access to the world.

Duluth Minnesota is the furthest inland port city in the world. Itasca County is the headwaters of the Mississippi River. MN has Boundary Waters with Canada.

We transport freight or ideas over waterways to the Atlantic Ocean.  Everywhere is downstream from us.

Planes, Trains and Well Planes and Trains

James J. Hill became one of the wealthiest men in American History recognizing Minnesota’s unique place in the United States transportation scheme. By expanding railroads from MN westward connected Minnesota to both coasts.

In 1902, Charles Lindberg, son of Progressive MN Congressman, Charles August Lindberg was born in Little Falls, Minnesota.

When he was 18 years old, the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport (MSP) was founded near Fort Snelling, 10 miles from Downtown Mpls and 10 miles from Downtown St. Paul. This complemented an incredible international rail system that connected Seattle to Chicago to New York and all the crops in between.

Lindberg of course would become famous in 1927, for making the first nonstop Trans-Atlantic flight from New York to Paris.

Like the children of most wealthy Progressive Minnesotans, Charles became interested in Antisemitism, Eugenics and Socialism.

Speaking of famous Anti Semites, shortly after joining the Democratic Party in 1919, Henry Ford opened an automobile manufacturing plant in St. Paul, MN right on Ford Parkway at Lock and Dam #1 on the Mississippi River. Despite having higher than average productivity than other Ford plants in the country, the company closed the plant due to Minnesota’s oppressive anti-business regulatory climate.

The site has since been sold to developers and is likely going to be turned into luxury condominiums.

Border to Border – Coast to Coast

In the 1960’s several Twin Cities neighborhoods no one remembers, and Rondo, an African American neighborhood no one can forget, were demolished to make way for three interstate highways that connected Minnesota to the rest of the country and the world.

I-35 connects Canada to Mexico. I-94 America’s Northernmost Interstate goes from Montana to Michigan. Finally, I-90 connects Minnesota to modern cities Seattle, Washington to Boston.

Festival of Nations

This year marks the 90th year of the Festival of Nations which is the longest running multi-cultural event in the country.

It’s held the first full weekend in May by the International Institute of Minnesota who provides refugee services, workforce development, education, immigration and citizenship services to the 9% of Minnesotans born in a different country.

Minnesota’s 200 colleges and universities benefit considerably from an influx of federal monies for this perpetual influx of international immigrants.

And Minnesota’s many Multinational Corporations benefit from this newly educated immigrant population.

Minnesota’s overwhelmingly large, educated upper class benefit from the moral superiority they feel being able to support Women and BIPOC focused programs while ignoring the plight of 70% of the unemployed or working poor.

Not all of Minnesota’s Left leaning immigrant populations are Black Indigenous Communists and/or Socialists of Color, however.

German immigration to Minnesota began in 1850 shortly after Karl Marx published the Communist Manifesto and there are still German language speaking Huttite Communal Colonies operating in Minnesota.

Blonde Communists

Not all blonde immigrants who emigrated from Germanic and Scandinavian Countries to Minnesota were Communists, but every blonde Communist who emigrated from Germanic and Scandinavian countries emigrated to Minnesota.

Given the amount of crime, homicide, income and education disparity, and high profile police incidents, we experience today, Minnesota still isn’t real Communism.

That said, MN has always had a LOT of blonde Communists.

The Elephant that Isn’t In the Room

Minnesota has a rich tapestry of diverse political opinions ranging from famous Communists, Socialists, Democratic Socialists, Progressives, Democratic Farm Labor and the Minneapolis City Council even has a Green Party representative!

Vice President Walter Mondale met with San Francisco social activist Jim Jones on his campaign plane while running with President Jimmy Carter from Georgia in one of the biggest political wins in US history.

Mosquitos

Finally, Minnesota has a lot of water. No really, like, more water than you can get your head around, lakes,, swamps, rivers, bays, basins, harbors, kettles, marshes, rivulets, ponds, creeks and puddles.

Let’s call that a 100 billion zillion, buzzing little reasons Minnesota might be the epicenter of the woke_mind_virus.

This means mosquitos and the stress that comes with mosquitos. Minnesota Natives joke about them being the “Minnesota State Bird” to at least 8% of the population, they’re no joke.
