An Open Letter to Chris Martin

Heros Journey Map

Dear Mr. Martin,

You’ve had a heck of a year, dude. I can only imagine. My condolences and I hope some blessings come from it.

This city has been brewing something for 50 years and you became the epicenter of it, through no fault of your own. That is some bull shit.

I’m old, and I’ve been watching this thing boil for a long time. I’ve written 50 or so articles collectively called “The Swamp Monster from Stearns County Swamp.” It is 4 years of science and satire describing that Minnesota Nice means ‘men only matter when they’re dead.’

I attended every day of the Mohamed Noor murder trial and was the only non-media citizen observer in the courtroom for the duration. I watched every day of this trial as well.

MN v. MN and MN v. DC – Somali dude and a white dude – both have something in common. They’re both dudes and they were both fucked before they ever walked into court.

The death of Philando Castile hit me hard, I could see his school from where I grew up. I’ve lost a lot of people, including my dad – it’s tough. You got handed a shit sandwich for working on Memorial Day last year.  I’ve been watching this big old purple pimple getting ready to blow up and make a mess everywhere for a long time.

Blisterdome with drones

You emerged the hero.  Let me say it again.

You, Chris Martin, are the hero in the George Floyd story.

You tried to protect your mom and the situation, by telling her to stay upstairs and you’re the first person in the George Floyd saga to take any responsibility.

Damn kid, way to go. I’m super proud of you, son.

That’s the most admirable trait I’ve seen in such a young man. You are clearly reasonsible and trainable and were available for work on a Holiday. You showed an astonishing amount of genuine courage and introspection.

I’d be happy to recommend you for anything you’re interested in or qualified for.

Educational opportunities, job, whatever. I’m asking others who read my blog to recommend you. My entire blog, all 50 articles, are dedicated to helping open doors for you.

Black lives should matter when they’re alive.

Chris Martin, you are the first actual hero to emerge from this purple pimple disaster movie I’ve been writing about for so many years.

If you want to succeed, I want to see you succeed. If I were a young man in your shoes, I’d be reading: “Power of Positive Thinking,” “Win Bigly,” “Loserthink,” “How to Fail,” and Dan Roam’s “Back of the Napkin.”

Don’t let them suck you in with this oppression bullshit they’re selling. It’s a trap.

Black people are just as capable of overcoming hurdles as white people and these books are the user interface for life.

Use your race and this George Floyd story very strategically. You’ve discovered a powerful tool by showing public humility and responsibility. Your ability to ask, “What would I do differently?” and learn, will be a key to many doors.

There will be people who are against you for no fault of your own. No one can help that, but I’d like to be a cheerleader for your success and ask that people help by recommending you.  I hope to open any doors for you that I can.

Chris, if you’d like, I will put a link to your LinkedIn Profile or contact link here.

If you are ever looking for a job, or an educational opportunity, please use me as a reference.  It’d be my pleasure to track your progress.

The attached books and letter have been sent to you via Cup Foods.

Letter of Recommendation

To whom it may concern,

I’ve seen Chris Martin display a rare and highly desirable character trait.  He evaluated his role in a bad situation and publicly took responsibility at each step. Today, he’d act differently.

The short term costs were enormous for him, but this character trait is a tactic that all but ensures his success within any endeavor he might engage.

I would recommend Mr. Martin for any opportunity or position he is applying toward. I wish him the best of luck and hope that he realizes what an incredible trait this is to display at such a young age. I hope to track the success of this young man.

Please feel free to call me at the number below if you have questions.
