Transparency for Thee and Me

Nekima addresses the Mayor and the Chief

Minneapolis accountability specialist, Chuck Turchick, asks the question:

Co-Chair Levy Armstrong,

I heard you say this yesterday to Mayor Frey, invoking what you told him when you agreed to co-chair the Community Safety Work Group:

“We talked about the importance of transparency and accountability. And here what we are seeing is business as usual.”

I applaud your call for transparency. But I take it that means you voted against your work group’s ground rules saying that the group, though funded by taxpayers’ dollars, would meet in private? Or is it “transparency for thee, but not for me”?

I do hope your work group decides to open your meetings to the public. It’s not too late to correct that mistake.

Yours,

Chuck Turchick
