I sat behind the father of a woman killed by a police officer, and the father of that police officer, every day for a month, in the only police trial in Minnesota history. I write about the male stereotype, taboos, government, and corporate policy, and most of my writings concern Minnesota Moral Panics, Police Policy, and Media.
The next few articles are my response to being Twitter banned FOR A WEEK for sharing an article entitled “Stop Saying Kill All Men” which Twitter deemed hate speech on their platform. This just happened to be the same day that Minneapolis Police Killed “A Man,” again.
I’m actually okay with users getting Twitter canceled for saying variants of “Stop Saying Kill All Men.” I’m also okay with users getting Twitter canceled for saying variants of “Kill All Men.”
It’d be great to test Twitter’s response to both. I think it would give us some urgent and important insight into human behavior. Complex terms like, “Advertiser Friendly,” “Political Correctness,” “Hate Speech,” and “Systemic Racism” might soon be easier to explain in ways that much more accurately conform to the data.
A wise man once said, “Don’t get nerds interested.” That’s usually good advice, but sometimes, in the case of slow motion disasters, getting nerds interested in just what Dogbert ordered.
After the Holiday Killing, I wondered if a user could test Twitter’s algorithm to see if you’re more likely to get canceled for saying variants of “Kill All Men”
-or-
For sharing variants of “Stop Saying Kill All Men,” on Twitter. Also, was talking about the Holiday Killing of “A Man” getting killed by Minneapolis Police also a contributing factor? These seem testable, and I’d predict they’d illuminate a series of cross cultural taboos.
Cross-culturally, I’d predict saying “Kill All Men” may or may not be flagged as hate speech but saying “Stop Saying Kill all Men” is the DEFINITION of hate speech, as it is at the very least a good operating definition of NOT “Advertiser Friendly.”
Congratulations human species, you finally figured it out, not far from the center of North America. It took Judaism, Christianity, Islam, 100 years of suffrage, fifty years of Patriarchy, Gender as a Social Construct, and the glory of 2020 to figure it all out. A new level of awareness is available to us, if we are willing to abandon our biophobia.
Gad Saad defines biophobia in the “Consumption Instinct” in binary flavors: those who don’t believe in evolution, and those who don’t want you discussing its implications. In the Twin Cities Echochamber of Commerce and the Mindhive of Greater Minnesota, we have both flavors. Some will hit you in the face with a skateboard.
I predict we’re going to learn a lot about human moral behavior from testing the term “Stop Saying Kill All Men” AND from the Holiday killing of “A Man.” Like the price of Honeycrisp Apples you’ll pay for this next spring and a summer of fiery but “peaceful” protests.
I’m going to lean heavily on Dr. Gad Saad’s books and the Kinsey Institute research of Dr. Tania Reynolds.
As my readers know, I’m kind of a nerd and I had some questions.
What is it about the Minneapolis Police Killing “A Man” that might trigger Twitter people?
What is it about “Stop Saying Kill All Men!’?” that might trigger Twitter people.?
I don’t know, but being a nerd, I went straight to the data.
Remember kids, you can’t say “Stop Saying ‘Kill All Men” without saying “Kill All Men.”
So I started there…
Wow. What an interesting correlation. An increase in the use of the term “Kill All Men” within the US seems to correlate to US Industrial and Military resources and attention being spent in Asia. Maybe there’s something here, or maybe this is confirmation bias.
Google’s NGRAM only covers books, but I’d bet you’d see a marked uptick in social media in the last 100 years as well. What has changed?
Nearly every Minnesotan believes there is a pattern of police accountability when white men are killed by police. Contrary to local legend, in 163 years of statehood, Minnesota has put precisely one officer on trial for murder.
Minnesotans will speak endlessly about the need for programs for women and Black Indigenous People’s of Color (BIPOC) disproportionately affected by the power-crazed police.
However, Minnesotans seem viscerally disinterested in actual police policy, Most activists, for example, have never heard the term “qualified immunity.” Yet, every single one of them knows policing disparities are caused by “systemic racism.”
Mention the fact that “Men make up 96% of police homicides” and you’ll hear the fact that “men commit more violent crime.” Mention the fact that the majority of police homicides are white men, and you will quickly be “corrected.”
Minnesota is one of two states requiring a college degree to become a police officer. Minnesota police get training not to kill women and Black Indigenous People of Color, but most people around the world have noticed a pattern of Minnesota Police Murders of Color.
The officer involved shooting of Australian Justine Damond generated international outrage, and cost the City of Minneapolis $20 million dollars. Philando Castile cost only $3 million.
Roughly one in ten Minnesota Police Killings make news, usually on slow news days or in election years.
Officer Derek Chauvin, Mr. Minnesota 2018, made international news on the Memorial Day apprehension of maskless Minneapolis resident, George Floyd, a man, killed by Mpls police, followed by International Panic.
I’d like to thank Leeds Psychologist Phil Mitchell for his article entitled “Stop Saying Kill All Men” that got me thinking and researching.
I found several articles explaining why “Kill All Men” is a harmless joke, and a reasonable response to the collective male behavior.
With the data I have now, it is difficult to predict whether we’ll be in a hot war with some power in Eurasia in 2021, or some hot war with East Asia in 2021, but the data seems to undeniably indicate unrest. You can just call me Smartasstradomus.
Can Dr. Reynolds’ research predict a cross-cultural moral reaction to messaging such as “Kill All Men” or “Stop Saying Kill All Men?” What about the outrage after hearing “A Man” was killed by Minneapolis Police?
Could elevated messages of “Kill All Men” evoke a violent histrionic response against an Asian superpower?
Or is this what Dr. Saad calls the “6 Degrees of Faux Causality?”
Either way, Scott Adams has a formula for tearing the fabric of reality.
